IDU Cloud - Important Security Update: Transition to TLS 1.2 or Later

This Notification Applies to IDU Cloud customers.

We want to inform you of an important upcoming security update.

To enhance security and provide best-in-class encryption for your data, we will require all interactions with Azure services to be secured using Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or later, starting from October 31, 2024. On this date, support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will end.

Although the Microsoft implementation of older TLS versions is not known to be vulnerable, TLS 1.2 and later offer improved security with features such as perfect forward secrecy and stronger cipher suites.

Recommended Action:

To avoid potential service disruptions, please ensure that your resources interacting with Azure services are using TLS 1.2 or later. Here’s what you need to do:

• If your resources are already using TLS 1.2 or later: No further action is needed.
• If your resources still depend on TLS 1.0 or 1.1: Transition them to TLS 1.2 or later by October 31, 2024.

Additionally, please note that SQL Server 2014 reached its extended end-of-life period on July 9, 2024. To support TLS 1.2, a minimum version of SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 3 (SQL2014SP3) is required.
