SQL Server 2014 Support Has Ended – Here’s What It Means for You

 


Microsoft ended support for SQL Server 2014 on 9 July 2024. While your systems may still run, they are now at higher risk for security vulnerabilities and performance issues.

Our current release of IDU-Concept supports SQL 2014, but from version 5.9.1 onwards, it will require a minimum of SQL Server 2016, which has extended support until 14 July 2026. Customers using SQL 2014 or earlier will no longer be compatible with new releases, features, or improvements.

We recommend upgrading to SQL 2016 or later for optimal performance, security, and efficiency. Alternatively, consider moving to IDU Cloud, where you will always be on the latest version with continuous updates and new functionality – no manual upgrades needed.

Important Notice: Microsoft is ending support for MS SQL 2014 in July 2024.

  As we are sure you are already aware, as of July 9, 2024, Microsoft will officially end support for MS SQL 2014   Why must we upgrade to a later version of MS SQL? End of support means regular security updates will no longer be provided. With cyberattacks becoming more sophisticated and frequent, running applications and data on unsupported versions can create significant security and compliance risks. What does this mean in terms of our investment in IDU? In the future, customers running SQL 2014 or earlier may not have access to new releases of IDU, including new features and functionality released in the system. We would therefore highly recommend that customers upgrade to the most current versions for better performance, efficiency, and regular security updates.
